Untold numbers of animals have been injured, orphaned and displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The wildlife rehabilitators who are caring for surviving wildlife desperately need help.

IWRC is working with members in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama to identify critical situations. Some rehabilitators and centers are still unreachable or have not been accounted for. Reports from operational centers and rehabilitators indicate that some are inundated with large numbers of injured and orphaned wildlife. Supplies and resources are depleted. Your support in this effort is crucial: please help those who are caring for wildlife that have suffered this tragic event.

Our goal is to link you with those in need. To read reports on local situations and requests for assistance, please click on the menu items to the right. If you are able to offer assistance, please do not send materials or goods that are not specifically requested. Please do not send perishables, as it may take time for volunteers at staging areas to arrange transport.

If you need help or if you are searching for help for a rehabilitator who is without telephone or internet service, please post a request by clicking on ‘Post a Request’ on the menu to the right.

We welcome reports and updates on local situations involving wildlife and rehabilitators. To submit a report, please click on ‘Submit a Report’ on the menu to the right.
