IWRC and its members worldwide contribute to the rescue,
rehabilitation and reintroduction of hundreds of thousands of wild animals
each year, providing a public service that is above value.
Global
warming, pollution, pesticides, chemicals, habitat loss and natural disasters
threaten wildlife populations, the balance of nature, and life on earth.
IWRC and its members fight for the survival of biological diversity, and
the animals that are integral to it. Why? Because wild animals are not
just creatures that enrich our lives with beauty, or that provide indigenous
peoples with food and clothing. They are more indispensable than that.
They are the pollinators, the dispersers of seeds, the recyclers, the
enrichers of soil, and the controllers of insects. No army of scientists
and agriculturalists can create the abundance so freely provided by nature
when the cycle of life moves in the way it must. Water, light and soil
give rise to plants; plants give rise to animals, and animals in turn
pollinate plants, disperse seeds, control excess, feed soil, and give
rise to new life. When they are lost, all is lost.
IWRC is a registered non-profit organization that relies
on membership, volunteers, sales of publications, grants and donations
to develop and deliver programs, services, and information to the international
wildlife rehabilitators working at the front lines, to other professionals,
and to you, for the benefit of wildlife, mankind, and the planet.
If you would like to be part of the solution, you can
help by making a donation to support IWRC, its programs and its services.
